Be sure and check out pages 11 and 29 of the September issue of amcoutdoors magazine. Maine Chapter Chair Peter Roderick and his wife Janet are featured as part of the Maine Woods Initiative “Donor Spotlight”. Peter also received press on page 18 regarding the proposed building of a lean-to in AMC’s Katahdin Iron Works property in the Greenville area. Maine Conservation Co-Chair Peg Nation is featured as part of the “AMC Profile- People Making a Difference” section. Thanks for all of your hard work, and congrats on the press!
AMC is now offering camp-to-camp biking in its Katahdin Iron Works (KIW) property in the greater Greenville area. Modeled after the hut-to-hut hiking system in the White Mountains, bikers can pedal from one AMC facility to another via the network of old gravel logging roads. The 17-mile route from AMC’s Little Lyford Pond Camps to its Medawisa property allows cyclists great views through a remote area, and the opportunity to bunk in well-maintained cabins with modern amenities and dine on hearty fare at both ends of the journey. This would make a great foliage trip! Check out AMC’s website for more information.
