Have you ever wanted to tackle some of the steep chutes in Tuckerman or King Ravines or even just put your skis on and go exploring? If so, then you will not want to miss the AMC’s Backcountry Skiing Workshop on Saturday January 24 at Pinkham Notch in New Hampshire. The workshop will cover the details of backcountry ski trips, what gear you need, where to get that gear and general wilderness backcountry ski preparation. Also included will be how to understand an avalanche forecast and use and avalanche beacon. Techniques, gear, planning and trip suggestions for both low-angle backcountry skiing as well as steep backcountry skiing will be covered.
This all-day workshop at Pinkham Notch Visitors Center starts at 8:00AM with both classroom and field sessions. AT, split board, telemark gear required. Bring own lunch, snacks, water, and come ready to learn all about backcountry skiing from the top guide service in the area. Please contact Al Mandell for more information.
