The Appalachian Mountain Club’s Maine Policy Manager, Bryan Wentzell, will present a slide show with Q&A on AMC’s Maine Woods Initiative on Thursday, June 21, 2007. The Maine Woods Initiative is AMC’s strategy for land conservation in the 100-Mile Wilderness region, addressing regional ecological and economic needs through outdoor recreation, resource protection, sustainable forestry and community partnerships.

This exciting project is the largest investment in conservation and recreation in AMC’s 130-year history. Those attending can pick up maps and materials on the project, hear how members and the public can both enjoy the many recreation opportunities in the 100-Mile Wilderness region, and help to make the MWI a success.

The potluck and presentation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Morrell Room of the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant Street, in Brunswick, ME. The potluck dinner will begin at 6 pm and the presentation will begin at 7 pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring a potluck dish of their choice and drinks and paper/plasticware will be provided. Parking is available along Pleasant Street, Middle Street, and in the library lot off Union Street.

Please join us for an evening of fun and information about the Maine Woods Initiative. This event is sponsored by the Maine Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. For more information on AMC’s Maine Woods Initiative, please go to: http://www.outdoors.org/mwi.
