Due to demand, the Maine Chapter has added another Kayak Rescue Course to our summer 2012 schedule. This trip provides members with the opportunity to both enjoy a kayak paddle and brush up on necessary rescue skills.

On July 19, join us for a morning paddle on the New Meadows River followed by a self and assisted rescue course at Seaspray Kayak in West Bath. We will paddle down river against the tide but enjoy a leisurely return with the tide. Watch for ospreys fishing in the river as we go.

After lunch, we will be joined by staff members from Seaspray Kayak in West Bath. We will watch them demonstrate self and assisted rescue and then practice it ourselves with their assistance. This skill is highly recommended to anyone who plans to go kayaking. It’s also always a good idea to pratice it on a regular basis. So even if you have done it before, come join us for a refresher. You may learn something new. For those, not joining us on the paddle, you can join us for the course alone. Kayak rentals are available for the course from Seaspray for $10 per boat. Please contact Maine Chapter leader Michelle Moody at (207) 319-7355 (best time to call: before 9pm) for more info.
