I essentially did this trip for a bit of simple trail maintenance. Although it is suppose to be covered by Bates Outing Club, it is often covered by a lot of blowdown for more than a year. I had a simple pruning saw and clippers and cut away a lot (nearly all the way to the Cabin) of overhanging brush. There is at least a dozen big trees obscuring the trail, primarily the first section (1 mile) from the parking area that require a chain saw. This is also a traditional very boggy trail that has not been addressed in many years. Hopefully now that it has been "preserved" some proper maintainence can be set up. This is still a great trail and one that you see hardly anybody on.
