Join us on Tuesday, April 28 when Peter Roderick, AMC Maine Chapter leader, volunteer and adventurer will talk about some winter adventures he has enjoyed in Baxter State Park. He has summited on Baxter Peak and Hamlin Peak the two tallest points on Katahdin from several different trails in all seasons. Later in the evening, Peter will recount some highlights of his 11 years of volunteering in the Maine Woods Initiative (MWI) area east of Greenville and near portions of the 100 Mile Wilderness Section of the Appalachian Trail. He will be joined by several staff members of the AMC’s MWI team. AMC has created an area of learning as well as a world-class lodge system on their land. They actively involve the children of the area as well as guests from the world. Their lodges are showpieces of environmental friendliness and culinary excellence. Partnership with surrounding and inholding landowners complete a multiuse timberland where one can fish, hike, bike, canoe, camp, and ski. Join AMC and Maine Audubon on Tuesday, April 28 at Fields Pond Audubon Center, 216 Fields Pond Road, Holden, ME. Potluck at 6, meeting at 7. Free and open to the public.
