Film Showing of the First National Whitewater Championships

Did you know the first national white water championship was held here in Maine on the Rapid river in 1940? And believe it or not color footage was shot of this event. Until recently it was thought to be long lost, but after 30 years of looking Maine canoeist Zip kellogg finally found it. Come see this superb film on Tuesday April 15th beginning at 7PM at the University of Southern Maine Portland Campus- 7th floor Glickman Library. The showing will include a history of the event, the film itself, and a Q and A at the end. Don’t miss your opportunity to view this nationally significant film. This event is free to the public. FMI.
