Please join us on Thursday April 17 when AMC members, Mary Hillery and husband Greg Guckenburg share their unique experiences as 2013 Lighthouse Keepers on Seguin Island off the coast of Maine. They decided to become lighthouse keepers because they love the ocean so much, always vacation on islands and looked out at Seguin since their children were very young. Upon retirement, they had the idea to apply as keepers. They started out ocean lovers and ended up lighthouse lovers… They will talk about the history of the lighthouse and will share many interesting details about the lighthouse. They will also discuss the varied flora and fauna of the island and the hiking trails found on the 64 acres of Seguin. They will present a slide show to play silently while they talk about their experiences at the Seguin Lighthouse. They will share the thrills and hard work of being volunteer lighthouse keepers and let us know just what it takes to become a lighthouse keeper. They will also leave time for questions and answers. For more information on Seguin and its lighthouse visit its website or find “Friends of Seguin Island” on Facebook. Join them at the Curtis Memorial Library, 23 Pleasant Street in Brunswick, for a potluck dinner at 6pm and their talk and slide show at 7pm. Bring a potluck item to share and your own dinnerware (plate, utensils etc.). Drinks will be available. Or simply come for the talk at 7pm. Both potluck and talk are free and open to the public.
