Calling all AMC members! The 2007 Maine Chapter Annual Meeting will be held Friday, September 28 to Sunday, September 30 at Camp Jordon on the shores of Branch Lake in Ellsworth, Maine. All AMC members are encouraged to participate in any or all of the weekend’s activities, as well as voice their opinions on the direction of the Maine Chapter.

The majority of the weekend’s activities will take place on Saturday, September 29th. Many of the activities below will be “family-friendly.” Planned outings include: hikes in nearby beautiful Acadia National Park, bike rides on coastal routes and National Park carriage roads, and paddles on Branch Lake and on the nearby ocean bays.

Also in the planning stages are workshops on outdoor activities such as backcountry food preparation and introduction to backpacking. Information tables on AMC related activities and how to become more involved will also be available.

The agenda for Saturday evening includes: a social hour, dinner (vegetarian option available), annual business meeting to elect officers and present committee reports, and guest speakers.

Weekend attendees can bunk in well-maintained cabins. Tent sites are also available. A simple breakfast (muffins, fruit, hot and cold beverages) will be available on Saturday in order to get folks to their chosen activities. Sunday will feature a more elaborate breakfast with hot food items such as eggs and pancakes. In addition, there will be a make-your-own trail lunch option on both days. Costs for the full weekend of activities will not exceed $75 per person. Costs for Saturday evening activities and dinner will not exceed $20.

For more information, please contact Laura Flight at 207-215-5306. Information will also be posted and updated on the Maine Chapter web site. Registration information will be available in the next issue of Wilderness Matters and in the future on the web page.

We are working hard to make this a great Annual Meeting and encourage all members to attend!
