Wilderness Act Turns 50

September 3, 2014 marks the 50-year anniversary of President Lydon B. Johnson’s signature to make the Wilderness Act law. And it had overwhelming bipartisan support in both the House and the Senate. Far before climate change was even discussed, these foreseers recognized the need to protect wild landscapes for the future based on the rapid changes they noticed around them.
