Are you a Young Member, or New to Trailwork, or Both?

Then you can volunteer for trails and get a free lodge stay! That’s right. The Peter Roderick Trail Work Award (PRTWA) will cover the cost of a multi-day volunteer trail work outing around one of AMC’s log lodges outside of Greenville, Maine. You’ll stay overnight, sleep in a bed, and eat chef-prepared meals in a log cabin lodge. In exchange, you’ll be part of a volunteer trail crew working outdoors in the Maine woods on projects such as building or improving foot trails and bog bridging, stacking firewood, gardening, and marking boundaries. A volunteer leader will provide appropriate instruction and oversight. See more information on the trips, how to apply, and the deadline.

These trips have been going on for many years, are very popular, and have a limited number of participants. One purpose of the new PRTWA scholarship is to open the trips to new and younger folks who can use the scholarship to attend for free.
